25 Months.

Aubrey is 25 months as of Tuesday. I am amazed everyday by the things he is saying. He is combining words to make little sentences, reciting the words to his books and answering questions, "what do you want from Santa?"......"puppies!" Ha ha ha.

He's also becoming more independent and wants to do everything by himself "my turn." "my blanket" is another favorite.....cause you know, everything is his. He is jumping, running, throwing, trying to use a baseball bat, and still requesting to watch "hockey." He loves his grandparents and his Aunt Kerri. Every morning he talks about going to the "park" instead of going to school. We still struggle with dropping him off at school some days. His favorite toys are are his Hot Wheels cars and his train table. He likes to eat "cakes" (cupcakes) and still prefers milk to anything else. Lately, he's been really great about eating vegetables, which is kind of nie. He watches Toy Story and lately wants to watch Shrek the Halls alot.

On Saturday we took a quick trip to the Kemah board walk to visit Gramma Jacki and Grampa Dean. Aubrey really enjoyed all that Kemah had to offer. We rode the choo choo train, ate dinner at Landry's, fed the fish and the stingrays and danced to some music. It was alot of fun.

It's hard to believe we have a toddler now. Aubrey is 19 months and has made lots of changes lately. The big thing is his language. He's starting to put words together now and along with saying "no, no, no" he is shaking his head "yes!" We love to hear him talking and communicating more and more with us. He's started asking a few questions "what's that?" and "where's?" It's truly amazing!! The other thing we love is his dancing and singing. He almost seems to get a little embarrased when we laugh and clap at his entertainment.

He is learning to drink from an open cup and unfortunately wants to do this alot in the bath tub. He can use a spoon and a fork for meals too. He is climbing on furniture (the coffee table) and running. He's in the toddler room at childcare and it's been a bit rough on me. I thought I was ready for the move, but it turns out, not so much. Hopefully Aubrey and I will both adjust okay. Aubrey has celebrated alot of birthdays this month, his daddy's and both grandma's. Busy, busy!! We've been to the pool several times and he seems to enjoy the water too. Since it's been so hot, we look forward to many more trips to the pool. He's also been to a few Astros games and can say "baseball."

18 Months!

It's official, we have a toddler. Aubrey is 18 months as of Friday, May 7th. It's hard to believe he's so big. He's definitely not a baby anymore. He's mister independent. He prefers to walk rather than ride in the stroller most of the time. He makes requests with words sometimes and tantrums others. He can say his name and still loves hockey "hana" on tv. I haven't counted the number of words he has but I'm guessing it's about 30, which I'm super proud of. They aren't always super clear but we know what he's saying which is important. He is learning to run and has scrapes on his knees to prove it. He's adjusted pretty well to our new house and I don't think he even knows the difference except there is more room for him to run around now. He tries to make me laugh by "biting my toes" and thinks its hilarious. He got a real haircut by the lady who cuts Jody's hair on April 19th and cried the whole time, but it looked much better. He's still at daycare 5 days a week and seems to enjoy walking in every morning. When I drop him off all the little kids yell "Aubrey" and run to seem him. He's been with the same group for over a year. He knows their names and can point to them when I ask. So, that's our 18 month update. I hope to have some new pictures up soon.

It's May here in Cypress, Texas and it's 80 plus degrees! YUCK! I hope we get a few more days of spring like weather before the real heat and humidity sets in. Luckily, we moved last weekend and had great cool weather for the majority of our move. Aubrey has a few favorite sports these days. He enjoys hitting golf balls (plastic, of course) with his new golf clubs. He also will stop what he's doing if hockey comes on television. He loves to throw and is still working on catching. These are some of his favorite things to do still.

He's not really into sitting and playing with puzzles or shape sorters, he'd rather be up and moving!

A few firsts.....

No pictures today, just wanted to capture a few new things Aubrey is doing. At the Astros game, Aubrey requested, milk please using his signs! A two word phrase.....his FIRST! Then last night he ate his pasta with his fork, well some of it. That was pretty cool too! Hopefully we'll have pictures to share soon. With our move, I've been slow on uploading and taking new pictures of our little man.

Aubrey is 17 months old today. He has a vocabulary of about 20 words that he says and he understands alot more. He can follow simple directions. He complains about getting dressed and having his diaper changed and wants to be held by me (mommy) alot. He does say mama now most of the time when he wants me to pick him up or he's stuck in his carseat and wants to get out. He is exerting his independence and often does things he shouldn't over again to see what we will do.

He is starting to run and climb. He likes to throw and is pretty good (future pitcher/quarterback in the making) and is even trying to catch. He loves bubbles right now and requests them all the time, along with "outda" which still is outside, another favorite. He brings us books to look at all the time and would read books all night before bed, if we didn't set a limit. He also enjoys his snack after school while he watches, "Elmo" another favorite of his these days.

16 Months Old!

Our little man is 16 months old today! His favorite place to be right now is "out da" which is his word for outside. He's definitely trying to talk more. New words are "bubble" "mama" "moo" "Tessa" (a girl from class) "night night" "pop pop" Not all of his words are articulated perfectly but they are close. He likes to sing songs and when we say dance he stomps his feet. He is climbing more and more. He also prefers to feed himself with the spoon and will eat more things now that we let him do it! We are working on getting rid of the bottle, but he still takes one at night, he definitely keeps him occupied while we put on his corrective shoes. He finally is outgrowing his 6-12 month clothes, so we're kind of inbetween sizes. He's not the biggest guy around. :-) Thanks for checking in on him and reading our "brag blog"

Aubrey continues to have a little bit of a runny nose, but other than that he was ready for his Valentine's Day party at school today. We got him Mickey Mouse Club Valentine's for his classmates. I can't believe he knows some of their names. Today when I dropped him off, we asked him where Tessa was and he pointed right to her!! He's such a smarty!! Happy Valentine's Day weekend from the Draper's!!!

I'll have to post pictures another day, but real quick I wanted to write about Aubrey's favorite new word..."uh-oh" He pretty much practiced it all day long today. It's pretty darn cute and he says it in the right context too. We went to TCH this morning for a follow up appointment with the clubfoot clinic, all looks good in that regards. No changes right now. His feet have great range of motion and we still have to put him in the shoes at night. That won't change until age three. yipee! After our quick appointment my mom and I took Aubrey to the Tot Spot at the Children's Museum. It was a great day to do something besides work! Aubrey seemed to really enjoy himself there. It's perfect for the little kids...all under age three, with no big kids to run them over. We had lunch there and played outside for a bit. We got some cute pictures, although he was constantly looking around that alot of them include only the side of his face.

Other new words "nana" (banana) "hi" "mama" (but only if he's really sad) "shoes" "nanana" (no no no) "gog" (dog) "dada" or "daddy" and I swear this morning he said "strawberry" and the other day "glasses" I love to hear him beginning to use more words. Okay, gotta head out to bed!

1st Surgery.....

Aubrey had pressure equalizing tubes (PE Tubes) put in his ears this morning. It was a super quick out patient surgery done by his ENT at Tomball Surgery Center. This was our first surgery experience and I was just a tad bit nervous. Luckily it went really well. We got him up just as we had to leave at 6am, picked up grandma Debbie and headed to the hospital. We got to his room right away and the they had us get him in a little hospital gown. He looked super cute and really had a great attitude. I think he signed "milk" once just as it was getting closer to surgery time, so I was thankful when they came to get him and he really made it easy on me, reaching out for one of the female nurses! No crying baby reaching out for me!!! We went to the waiting room, hung out for about 15 minutes and got a great report from the Dr. He had thick fluid sucked out of his left ear, the right ear was clear and tubes put it in, with no problems. Shortly thereafter we went to find him in the recovery area. He was groggy and a bit grumpy. He fussed when we put him in the car, but luckily Grandma was able to hush him to sleep. When we got home, he had a full bottle and got up and started to play. Wow!! That was easy and I'm hoping the rest of the day continues to go well. He's taking his 2nd nap for the day right now. We are hoping the tubes help Aubrey feel better and not get ear infections every time he gets congested. We'll see how things progress.....but we sure our thankful today ended up being such an easy day!

Aubrey has a Mickey Mouse blanket that he uses when he goes to sleep for naps and at night. For Christmas, my mom and I invested in some extra Mickey's so we'll hopefully never run out of them. There is one at her house, in the car, at daycare and a few at home....not to mention the Tigger blanket we got when we couldn't find the Mickey at Walmart! This is what Aubrey did when he found two of them that were fresh out of the dryer!! (yep, they are washable!)

Aubrey has begun to walk. This past weekend he really decided that walking a short distance is the way to go. So, I would say he's walking 1/2 of the time now and then crawling the other half. Especially if there isn't something for him to walk towards, but he's made some nice progress in taking more and more steps!

Aubrey celebrated his first birthday on Saturday, Nov. 7th, 2009. On Friday he celebrated with his school, getting a birthday hat and having muffins. This does mean that he'll be transitioning to a new class soon. I hope I'm ready for that. I'm sure he'll do great....but mommy, on the other hand may need some support.

On Saturday, we had a Lil Quarterbacks First Birthday Party...Longhorn Style. Aubrey had so many of his friends and family turn out to celebrate with him. We had bbq, cake, presents and Longhorn football. We really appreciate everyone who made it out to celebrate with him. Aubrey wasn't too sure about the cake....not sure if it was the taste or the fact that he was about 15 minutes away from needing a good nap!

In order to keep my goal of working out consistently, about two months ago I suggested to some friends to sign up for the Great Pumpkin Fun Run that happens every Halloween weekend in downtown Houston. I am proud to say that we finished and enjoyed the morning doing it!

11 Months Old!

Wow! Aubrey is 11 months old today. He's doing so many new things. He's learning to drink from a cup and trying lots of new finger foods. The other night he had spanish rice, ground beef and refried beans. He really loved it. He's cruising on furniture and pushing a push toy around. He really prefers to push the barstools and kitchen chairs around though. He's still babbling and imitating silly faces/noises, like raspberries and smacking. He also seems to enjoy going to the Texans game. He doesn't like to ride in his car seat or be told no. He does like Jack Johnson's music and dances almost immediately when he hears a song. He's been relatively healthy this month, only the occasional cold. We had a follow up appointment at Texas Children's Hospital. Aututmn, the PA who runs the clubfoot clinic, said his feet looked awesome. He still will wear his shoes nightly, probably until the age of three. Putting them on at this age is kind of a struggle but so his changing his diaper and getting him dressed. He has no interest in putting on his clothes. :-)

10 Months Old!

I'm a little late with my 10 month post but here it is. Aubrey is officially almost 1 year old and he is once again changing so much. He's been crawling and cruising along the furniture. He really seems to like to pull up and walk along things right now. He's pretty much into whatever he wants to try and get into. YIKES! So, we do the best we can to stay a step ahead of him. He's still babbling and has learned how to blow and spit. He's eating many finger foods and will try most of what we offer him now. His favorites this week have been peas and pears. When he is done eating, he's real good at throwing his food off his tray and looking at it. :-) He's been to the park to swing with his grandma and we've been taking more walks outside now that it's finally cooling off. He also went to his first Texans game....pre-season, this month. Little did we know he was developing an ear infection, so it was a short game for us. We will try again this Sunday at the Texans opening day game. Hope it goes better than the last one.

9 Months!

Well, here we are at 9 months old already. So many changes this month! Aubrey spent his first full week at his Grandma and Grandpa Saunders in July and did really well. He slept in his pack and play, played with his grandpa and went to Target with his grandma. They said they all had a good time! :-)

Aubrey's new big skill is pulling up to his knees and to stand. He enjoys standing up and scooting and crawling everywhere. He no longer stays in one place, but is everywhere. We officially have to babyproof!!

He is trying finger foods and learning to drink from a cup. He still takes two naps and sleeps well at night, rarely waking up, although we still have some of those nights. This month he also said "dada!" when Jody walked into the room. We aren't sure if it's a word just yet, but it certainly seems like it. I work on "mama" alot with him but we haven't heard that word yet....someday soon, hopefully. He turns his head when we say his name and stops when he's told "no" although he smiles at us, so we aren't sure if he really understands what it means.

There haven't been any changes with his feet this month. We still put his corrective shoes on at night and we'll have another visit with Texas Children's Hospital in September. He does put up a bit of a fight when we put them on at night, I've resorted to putting on his shoes first and then getting his pj's on later in the evening. I completely understand why there is a strap on the changing pad now! He is all over the place. He likes to get himself turned over, get up on his knees and pull up on the changing table!! Wow!! He's a busy boy!
